Dana D. Dorrell is a native of Jacksonville, Florida, and is a graduate of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts.  She is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Alabama State University, located in Montgomery, Alabama – a city that prides itself on being known as the “Center of the Civil Rights Movement”.  Dana D. Dorrell earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a concentration in English and French languages.  In 2000, Dana D. Dorrell graduated from Thomas M. Cooley at Michigan State University Law School, where she was the recipient of numerous Merit Awards and an active member of the Black Law Students Association. 

Dana D. Dorrell has enjoyed a very diverse legal career, having practiced law in the governmental, private and corporate arenas.  Dana began her legal career in Orlando, Florida, where she served as an Assistant State Attorney.  Recognizing soon thereafter her desire to return to her roots in Jacksonville, Dana returned to Jacksonville in 2002, where she served as in-house counsel for a local corporation.  While serving as in-house counsel, Dana also became a NFL Professional Cheerleader, where she was a member of the 2003-2004 Jacksonville Jaguars’ Roar.  Soon thereafter, Dana entered private practice as an Associate with a local law firm, where she represented several high profile clients and specialized in the practice of Personal Injury, Family Law, and Entertainment Law.  While serving as an Associate, Dana also taught Business Law at the University of Phoenix.  Later, Dana joined forces with three other attorneys and formed the first female, African-American law firm in the Northeast region.

She is also a member of the National Bar Association, Jacksonville Bar Association, Florida Bar Association & the Trial Lawyers of America.   Dana currently practices in the areas of Personal Injury, Family Law, Entertainment Law, Business Law, and Wills, Trusts & Estate Planning.  Dana serves as Attorney and Counselor at Law for Smith Group Financial.
